Deleting Loneliness

We would love for members to collaborate with us on a pilot project called Deleting Loneliness. It's based on a pilot in Barcelona and effectively uses a flat screen for people to press a button to e.g., link in to a virtual lunch with a relative, have a catch up with a voluntary befriender, do an online visit to a museum, play a game with other folk who are connected.

Our lovely researcher, Kieran.Green@plymouth.ac.uk, is currently working with a range of VCSE organisations in Plymouth to explore what we can lay on as activity options.

We are piloting this project in our Plymouth Living Lab, based in Plymouth Community Homes. However, given the online nature of the activities, partners would not have to be locally based.

We also have some technical help from Cisco in setting up the offer. The broad idea is to evaluate whether this relatively cheap intervention can make a positive difference to well-being among otherwise very isolated people.

Do get in touch with Kieran if you are interested in getting involved. We will be holding exploratory workshops in January with residents to discuss activities of interest.
