DCHC invite you to sign up for our Infection Control Champion Programme in collaboration with Devon CCG, starting April 9th by Zoom.

Please note that there is a change of start date from the 18th March to the 9th April

These sessions will provisionally run for 12 weeks, starting on Friday 9th April at 11am each week.

Since the start of the pandemic there has been advice pouring into the sector from all agencies at national, regional and local level. At times this advice has been contradictory and in the main the advice has needed to be interpreted for operational purposes. This has resulted in some people finding it difficult to know what to do.

As we progress through the life cycle of the virus and we learn more about it, we can be firmer in our convictions around the strategies that work to limit the risk of Covid.

The wider infection control picture still remains. Influenza, Norovirus, C-diff, scabies to name a few.

The aim of this programme is to assist our members navigate the various regulatory requirements and guidance and implement operational systems in a timely way that are recognised county wide by system partners. Our aim eventually is to have one approach to infection control that is agreed by the Health, Social Care and Providers to avoid contradictory advice or approach.

Closing date for signing up is March 16th for the first group

More information can be found here.

Please sign up by registering for this event.

To ensure we give consideration to all settings, it would be useful if you can forward a copy of your current Infection Control Policy to info@devoncarehomes.org when you have registered.

DCHC is currently working with policy and infection control experts to develop resources, including a generic policy.

We will be happy to receive your suggestions, comments or queries.

If you want to start working on your Data Security and Protection then come along to our Introductory webinar on Tuesday 11th May at 11am.

If you have never started the DSPT, or maybe have done some work on it in previous years, come along to get started. We will cover what exactly the DSPT is, what the new changes are, how to register, and what your next steps are.

The DSPT is a toolkit that needs to be renewed each year. The deadline for the 20/21 DSPT is the 30th June 2021.

The DSPT is required in order to:

    • comply with data protection legislation and answer the Care Quality Commission’s Key Line of Enquiry questions about how you manage data securely (see KLOE W.2.8)
    • ensure ongoing access to key services such as NHSmail and shared care records so that you can share information with your health and care partners.
    • reassure people who use your services, their families and your staff that you are managing their information safely. Most people expect you to share information with others who support them – but you must do this securely and legally.
    • identify areas where you need to improve and support you to develop an improvement plan.
    • reduce the risk of suffering from cyber crime and data breaches.

If you've started looking at the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) but would like some support to go through the questions, please come along to our interactive workshops.

In this session we will be covering two out of the four sections of the DSPT - Staffing and Policies and Procedures. We'll be going through the questions and explaining what is needed, so that you can complete the questions in this session. We'll be covering all the questions for Approaching Standards and touching on the questions needed for Standards Met.

We will also be running another weekly session on the other two sections. Feel free to come to both of them or either depending on which areas you feel you need support on.

Please ensure you are registered with the DSPT before coming to these sessions. If you haven't registered or are not sure where to start, please first come along to one of our introductory 'Getting Started' webinars which are also happening weekly.

Please note, there is a registration limit of 20 participants for this session but we will be running more workshops in the coming weeks.

If you want to start working on your Data Security and Protection then come along to our Introductory webinar.
