Skills for Care are supporting a study by Hull University on end-of-life care training resources for homecare workers. The researchers are arranging a series of four online workshops for homecare workers and homecare agency managers lasting 2 hrs over a period of 7 months throughout 2024. These are to share the findings from our research on homecare for people approaching end-of-life (from interviews, analysis of policy/guidance, and evaluation of current EOLC training provision/options).
The workshops will allow discussion and development towards the creation of a free to access training tool or resource to support homecare workers (and therefore managers, agencies, LA's etc) to deliver appropriate, effective and confident end-of-life care.
Participants will be offered a shopping voucher (£25) as a thank you for their time, for each workshop attended.
There is no requirement to attend all four. Participants will need access to a computer/tablet where they can join the workshop online through teams, have audio and webcam availability, and be able to understand spoken English. Ideally, we are looking to recruit homecare workers (and managers) who have experience of providing end-of-life care to people in their own homes. Workshops will be arranged on dates/times that suit the majority of respondents, so this may include evenings or weekends if requested.
Interested participants can contact Zana Bayley directly z.p.bayley@hull.ac.uk with their contact details and name of agency who will get in touch to discuss more and advise on possible dates.
