As we relayed in the previous newsletter, the training and development organisation, Indago Development, have been working to develop an OSCE training programme to support new-entrant nurses into homes. This is to ensure they have the available support and guidance to pass the OSCE, at the first attempt, and continue to add value to the high-quality care given on a daily basis.
Research has shown an increasing need for this training, especially in the social care sector. Data reveals that only 43.5% of candidates passed the OSCE, at the first attempt, in the first six months of 2024. We also know that candidates from social care have lower pass rates overall. One reason for this is the limited support available to them to practice the range of clinical skills in comparison to candidates supported by the NHS.
Most importantly, Indago Development's OSCE training programme is able to offer member homes fully funded places in 2025.
If any homes are interested in using this funding and finding out more, please email Bhavin at bhavin@indagodevelopment.co.uk.
One of the founding principles of DCHC was to support homes, in our area, to provide quality services. Partnering with Indago Development allows us to support members with access to quality training, learning and development.
