Indago Development: Take advantage of the fully funded training available to DCHC members

Only this week, I heard someone say, “You can’t boil the ocean.” It made me stop and listen. This lady was presenting online at a virtual conference. I had it on in the background, half listening to the odd speaker. She, however, captured me.

We know that our daily responsibilities can sometimes feel overbearing. The challenges faced keep surmounting: the complexities of care, staffing and recruitment, funding constraints and the list goes on. That said, research tells us that investing in the team is important in uncertain times. Indago Development aims to do this. We turn knowledge into action so that training and development, whether for individuals, teams or whole organisations, is manageable and meaningful. Investing in learning benefits us all; it engages staff and helps to retain them knowing their upskilling is valued.

In recent months, Indago Development has been working on a series of courses based on feedback we get from the people in the sector, data that is publicly available and the research that underpins great learning.

1. Our new Entrant to Social Care – Part 1 programme has recently been CPDUK accredited! It comprises of nine e-learning modules (designed around the 15 Care Standards) followed by eight Online Classrooms (run over consecutive weeks). Designed for international recruits, it is, however, open to everyone. Please find more information here.

Places for the next Online Classrooms, starting on Wednesday 16th April 2025 at 6pm and then on Wednesday 28th May 2025, are available to DCHC members. These are fully funded. If you want to take up the offer, simply email us at info@indagodevelopment.co.uk.

2. My colleague Meg and I have pieced together a conversation about Introductions to Life in the UK Care Sectorwhich has met the approval rating on Udemy and is now available on the online learning platform! This has stemmed from conversations we have had with international recruits, who have recently arrived in the UK. Whilst this conversation could have been vast, we picked some recurrent themes, talked about it, recorded it and made it go live! You can find it here

Now, this is our first go! Your feedback is welcome; happy to receive this as we aim to do more. Please email us at info@indagodevelopment.co.uk.

To end, I had the absolute pleasure of speaking at DCHC’s Conference last month. I made clear (as I often do!) that whilst I do not come from the sector (my background is 19+ years in secondary education and, latterly, as a Headteacher), I am passionate about learning and development. We learn an incredible amount from one another; a culture of learning is one we should all embrace.

The lady that made my ears stand up was conveying this very point: each of us furthering ourselves will, collectively, make a bigger and positive difference. We can’t simply boil the ocean; we can focus on parts to change it.
